Souvenirs

I love being in China. People are friendly, you never feel as a foreigner. Even without speaking much Chinese, they try to communicate. My best experience: being invited by a Tai Ji group in Kunshan Jiangsu. For about 5 months, I participated every morning at 5:30 in their outdoor exercises, even when it was raining. We became friends and I learned also some Chinese words. Teaching English in a school for children of migrant workers was also a strong experience. I never saw western children so motivated. And last not least my own Chinese studies, first with my friend Liu Wei Gang, later in a school in Shanghai. What a great experience!!

The food, the landscape, the contrast between on one side the old, traditional and dirty China and on the other side this fast growing, fast learning young China are always impressing. And even when it seems for us to be so miserable, people are happy, play and sleep when ever it is possible, but work also day and night. From my very first trip to China in 2000 (Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'An), I visit in the last 4 years while living in Kunshan Jinagsu Province and QingPu Shanghai all major city's around like Suzhou and Hangzhou. I went to charming places like Wuzhen and Huang Shan. I went shopping to Yiwu, the international trade city and much more.

And when I am away, I wish I could go back immediately.
